About Tacite

Teams lose hard-won fixes. We keep them.

Tacite keeps the fixes your experts approve and warns the next person or AI agent before a known mistake repeats.

Founding story

What if a team’s shared context could maintain itself?

We were building a startup, moving fast, talking constantly, and still losing alignment.

Decisions lived across chats, meetings, docs, and people’s heads. A decision made on Monday could already be obsolete by Thursday, but the old assumption would keep propagating through the team.

We tried documenting more. It did not solve the problem.

The problem was not that knowledge was missing. It was that much of what actually drove the team was tacit: why a decision was made, which assumptions supported it, what evidence had changed, and what everyone currently believed.

That led us to a different question:

What if a team’s shared context could maintain itself?

Not another knowledge base. Not another meeting recorder. A system that understands what the team currently believes, why it believes it, and when that belief should be reconsidered.

That idea gave us the name.

TacitTacite

Tacit knowledge is the invisible context that shapes how teams make decisions. Tacite turns that hidden context into a living system that can be tracked, updated, and brought back into the work when reality changes.

We started building Tacite because teams do not just need better memory.

They need a memory that knows when to change its mind.

  • Decisions, not documents

Tacite turns scattered work from Slack, calls, docs, code, and AI chats into clear decision records that capture the rationale, owner, evidence, and open questions.

  • Humans stay in charge

Capture is automatic. Commitment is not. Nothing becomes official memory until a human owner approves it.

  • Local and private by default

Activity is read on your machine and never leaves it. Only tasks and projects sync to the cloud, and only when you choose.

Who it is for

For knowledge intensive teams and industries.

Labs

A parameter, model, or method changes during a run, and the reasoning disappears with the session. Tacite keeps the evidence, the why, and the open questions.

Consulting

Client context should stay with the project, not the last person who held it. Tacite keeps requirements, decisions, and handoffs attached to the work.

Startups

Direction changes in Slack, calls, and code. Tacite records what changed, why, and who owns it before the week overwrites the memory.

Scientific perspective

Decision memory should stand up to scrutiny.

That means learning from people who spend their careers separating evidence from assumption.
