Handle Windows Defender Warning
Windows Defender SmartScreen may show a warning that "Windows protected your PC" or that the app is from an unknown publisher. This is a false positive. Tacite is not code-signed yet—we're a small team and the signing certificate process is expensive and time-consuming.
Do this first after the download finishes
Run Tacite-Setup.exe, then use the steps below if Windows shows a SmartScreen warning.

Tutorial video coming soon
To install Tacite:
- When you see the "Windows protected your PC" warning, click More info
- Click Run anyway at the bottom of the dialog
- If prompted by User Account Control (UAC), click Yes to allow the installer to make changes
- Complete the installation wizard
Why this happens: Windows SmartScreen flags apps that don't have an Extended Validation (EV) code signing certificate. These certificates cost thousands of dollars per year, which is prohibitive for small open-source projects.
Install Local AI (Ollama)
